Alzheimer's is a hideous disease.
Not just a disease but a thief that steals from you.
It doesn't just steal your memory, it steals a whole range of things.............
Your ability to walk without falling over
Your ability to wash
Your ability to leave the house
Your ability to cook or feed yourself
Eventually it will also steal your ability to swallow
You will feel a whole range of emotions but not know why you are happy/sad/angry.
How confusing it must be to want to live the life that you always have and not understand what is wrong with you and why you can't carry on with life as normal.
How you are insistent that you can still do everything yourself and don't understand why people keep 'interfering' and trying to help you.
How distressing it must be to feel emotions and not know why you are feeling the way you do.
How frustrating it is that there is a long waiting list for any kind of care/day release/befriending scheme.
How sad that it will leave you unable to know who anyone is, even your children
Alzheimer's is a hideous disease.
Not just a disease but a thief that steals from you.
